Inpatient Services

Certified by State and Federal government, North Central Health Care offers a free standing psychiatric inpatient hospital. It provides acute care for people in need of hospitalization for a psychiatric condition or detoxification services. The inpatient unit is equipped with the resources of a multidisciplinary team to address the needs of the individual 24 hours per day 7 days per week.

REFERRALS

The inpatient hospital can be accessed through voluntary or involuntary means (in the case of a court ordered evaluation) and serves as the receiving hospital for Marathon, Lincoln and Langlade County residents.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Generally the hospital serves adults (age 18 and up), with some brief evaluations of children between 13-18 under a police hold. A person must meet admission criteria, which includes acute symptoms of a mental health problem than can not be treated in a less restrictive setting such as outpatient, serious impairment in daily functioning due to mental health problems, or detoxification or dangerousness to self or others due to the possibility of mental illness.

EVALUATION

Within 24 hours a person is seen by members of a multidisciplinary team. This includes psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, Masters prepared clinicians, and nurses who help determine with the person the best form of treatment to meet individual needs.

PROGRAMMING

The inpatient hospital offers multidisciplinary programming for treatment of mental health disorders. This may include occupational therapy, group therapy, medication education, psycho educational groups, individual counseling, family counseling, and medication clinic with a psychiatrist. All programming is done in conjunction with an individualized treatment plan developed with the client with the expressed purpose of promoting recovery.

DETOXIFICATION

The inpatient hospital has a specialized "detoxification team" that consists of medical staff, as well as staff with training in alcohol and other addictions. The purpose is to help the person through an acute phase of medical withdrawal from alcohol, as well as evaluate for additional services that will help promote ongoing recovery.

DAY TREATMENT PROGRAM

Day Treatment is a program that offers clients an opportunity to reintegrate themselves into a life-style that promotes wellness. Clients receive the benefits of a hospitalization with the comfort of being at home.

A team of professionals provide information, education and therapy to alleviate symptoms and learn ways to make positive changes in everyday life. Interactive groups provide opportunities to improve communication, handle stress in an effective way and prevent relapses or at least reduce the severity.

Each client works with a multidisciplinary team that includes a psychiatrist, Clinical Social Worker, Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist and Dietician. Each client in Day Treatment has an individualized treatment plan with a great degree of flexibility to meet individual needs.

Clients may utilize Day Treatment if they need to transition from an inpatient hospital stay or prevent a hospital stay.

The Day Treatment Program runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
