Jonathon's Testimonial
In March of 2010 my son was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) — it is often called Lou Gehrig's disease. ALS is a serious neurological disease that causes muscle weakness, disability and eventually death. In my son’s case the disease quickly took a toll on his body.
Our son had been cared for at home with nurses, but in July of 2010, we decided he required better care. After some research, we found a new care facility opening in Wausau, Wisconsin. The facility, Northwinds Vent community, is a skilled nursing facility that is able to care for patients with mechanical ventilation.
In August that year my son became the first patient at this facility. His care at this facility has been nothing short of excellent. The professional staff works diligently to ensure he is healthy and free of infections that can result from ventilators. The compassionate staff at Northwinds also does well in making sure that he is kept mentally and emotionally well. They take him on short road trips in the community and make sure he feels a part of the community. He is not just stuck in a room 24 hours a day with the only view to the outside being his window.
It is difficult to come up with enough positive accolades about Northwinds Vent Community. I can be at peace knowing that my son is getting the best care possible by a staff that truly cares about him.
